1/2 Tablespoon baking soda
1-1/2 cups margarine or butter, softened
1-1/2 cups flour

Butter the bottom of a small glass and dip it into granulated sugar and mash the cookie flat, just a little. You only have to butter the glass once or twice but be sure and dip in sugar for each cookie.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool a few minutes then remove from pan to cooling rack. They are supposed to be very crunchy and buttery so don't think you have overcooked them.
