Spicy Raisin Drops



Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups seedless raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
Glaze:
3 cups sifted confectioners sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Sift flour with soda, salt, cinnamon and gloves; set aside. In large bowl beat shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. At low speed, beat in flour until well mixed. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Refrigerate 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Drop batter by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart onto cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool partially on wire rack and glaze tops.

Glaze: combine sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.


Makes about 5 dozen
