2 refrigerated pie crusts, allowed to come to room temperature
4 eggs
1.5 cups cream or evaporated milk
1 T. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1/4 t. nutmeg
1.5 cups Swiss Cheese, shredded or cubed
1 lb. pork sausage or bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
How to make this recipe:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place pie shells in pie tins.
In a blender or a large mixing bowl, add eggs, cream/milk, flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Blend well, or mix with a whisk until fully encorporated.
Add cheese and continue to blend, or stir well (for hand mixing, use shredded cheese). Sprinkle sausage or bacon into the bottom of the pie crusts and pour egg mixture over it.
Bake at 375 for 30 minutes then reduce heat to 300 degrees and continue baking until golden brown (another 5-10 minutes). I like this with a bowl of hot French onion soup. Even the men in my life like this Quiche.
Notes: You can change this recipe up a bit by adding onion, mushrooms, broccoli florettes or any different kind of cheese you like.
